Interview by James F. Tent : transcript, 1994 July 10, with additional yearly summary letters to John Rawlings, 1998 & 2001.

The interview covers primarily Milford's early years growing up in a mixed Christian and Jewish professional family in Berlin. He was born in 1927. After the Nazis seized power in 1933 his parents' marriage became classified as a "privileged mixed marriage" (privilegierte Mischehe); he himself was baptized as a Protestant and was confirmed in 1941. His recollections of the war years and occupation constitute the bulk of the interview. He emigrated to the United States in 1950.
